Change Detection
Change detection is nothing new to industries such as property appraisal. Assessors would take property records and sketches into the field and compare them against a current street view photograph.
ACA is taking the footwork out of the equation and improved the accuracy of comparison right from your desktop, using CAMA or computer assisted mass appraisal in conjunction with LiDAR. How does this work?
Appraisal data that is stored in the CAMA database is combined with the spatial information detected by LiDAR to create a structure "footprint". The overlay of sketch against footprint clearly reveals changes that may not be visible to the naked eye.
If obliques are added into the mix, even more information is revealed including the nature of new construction, grade and in some cases even age and condition of properties.
