New mapping was needed for pavement rehabilitation and strengthening. ACA, as the airports current mapping contractor, provided high accurate DTM's for the taxiway and runway surfaces using our special low altitude mapping photography (LAMP) process.
ACA's LAMP is ideal for obtaining survey accuracy by photogrammetry means. Using a helicopter equipped with our high precision aerial mapping camera, we mapped the entire project in less time than what it would normally take by conventional survey methods.
Flights were taken at 350ft. above the ground to achieve vertical accuracies ranging from .02ft. to .05ft. while the horizontal measurements had less than .10ft. Paint lines, cracks and pavement joints were mapped.
LAMP is preferred over conventional survey in these cases because it eliminated the need to close the runways. Very little disruption to air traffic.
Digital mapping and color orthophotography was required for delivery. AutoCad was the deliverable format for this project.
